Building and Safety regulates the construction of all new, remodeled and existing residential, commercial and industrial buildings as mandated by the State of California and the City of Palmdale's building codes. These codes encompass building, electric, plumbing, mechanical, sewer work, state energy, and state and federal handicapped access laws. The purpose of these codes is to provide standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of all buildings and structures within this jurisdiction.
For information on contracting for all types of construction projects or to check the current status of a contractor's license, please visit www.cslb.ca.gov.
Building and Safety has partnered with Accela to provide online permitting services for simple construction permits. A surcharge is collected by Accela for each permit issued online. To apply for a simple permit, to schedule an inspection, or to check the status of inspections online, contractors are required to register with Building & Safety. More complex permits, including those that require plan review, will continue to be issued in person at Building and Safety.
The general public may access the history for permits issued since October 1995 on any property located within City of Palmdale limits.
