Crime Prevention

The crime prevention office works cooperatively with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles County Fire Department and other city departments to provide education and support and to make resources available to Palmdale residents and neighborhoods to increase safety in our communities.

Events and Programs

Neighborhood Watch - Neighborhood Watch is the most effective means available for keeping crime out of our neighborhoods. It relies on the best crime fighting tool ever invented - a good neighbor. When neighbors work together with law enforcement, one of the best crime fighting teams around is created. Be a good neighbor and make your community safer from criminals by starting a Neighborhood Watch group.

Business Watch - Through the Business Watch program merchants learn crime prevention techniques to reduce opportunities for crime in their businesses. The program also helps business owners become familiar with resources available from the City of Palmdale and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The Business Watch program offers a variety of free training seminars to merchants and employees. Training is conducted on-site or at a City facility upon request.

Park Watch - Park Watch is an effective crime prevention program for your neighborhood park. The Park Watch program is an effort to report and prevent crime and vandalism to playground, park equipment and park facilities; to report suspicious activities in parks; to assist in the care and maintenance of our City parks by alerting officials of maintenance needs or other concerns, and to promote public awareness for parks and recreation activities.

The crime prevention office also provides free community presentations and monthly webinars on public safety topics such as:

  • Personal safety for seniors
  • Emergency preparedness
  • Home security
  • Identity theft
  • Scams, schemes and cons
  • Child safety
  • Safe Moves City (pedestrian safety for Palmdale elementary schools)

To request a presentation, find out when the next free webinar is scheduled or to obtain more information on any of these programs, please complete the interest form.
