Assistance For First-Time Homebuyers and Veterans, Program Participants and Struggling Homeowners

Perspective Homeowners:
Are you looking for down payment and/or closing cost assistance? Look no further! Below is a list of non-profit agencies that provide programs that can assist you getting into the house of your dreams.

  • California Housing Financing Agency, a self-supporting state agency, information about their various programs can be obtained by visiting their website at www.calhfa.ca.gov to research the programs offered.
  • Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) is a local housing finance authority and a duly constituted public entity and agency that provides’ down payment and closing costs assistance programs. Their website address is http://www.gsfahome.org/.
  • Affordable Housing Clearinghouse, a non-profit community lender, promotes homeownership thru the WISH Program (Workforce Initiative Subsidy for Homeownership) whose website is http://www.affordable-housing.org/.

First time homebuyers seeking information about the process involved in purchasing and owning a home, HUD approved housing counseling agencies provide Homebuyer Education workshops. If you are a current homeowner struggling to keep your home and avoid foreclosure, Keep Your Home California was established under the U.S. Treasury Department’s Hardest Hit Fund.  California was allocated nearly $2 billion to help eligible low and moderate income homeowners avoid foreclosure.  Qualifying homeowners can receive up to $100,000 thru various programs to help them keep their homes.  All of the services provided by Keep Your Home California are FREE OF CHARGE.
