Our Traditional Food Program is designed to provide emergency food to families in need that don’t qualify for food stamps, or are waiting for food stamps to be approved.
This program provides up to four food orders per fiscal year; there must be a 30-day lapse between each food order. Each order provides enough food for three meals per day for seven days. After the initial order, recipients must show an extra expense that prevented the household from purchasing food during that month, such as an unanticipated auto repair bill or medical expense.
Our second food program is in collaboration with the L.A. Regional Food Bank, and is funded by the Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP). Through this program families and individuals receive a small food order that is intended to supplement, but not cover, the entire monthly food need. Households are eligible for an EFAP food order every two weeks. It is also available to households currently receiving food stamps.
