Burial Records Questions

How do I find the grave of someone buried at the cemetery?
The Palmdale City Library has some of the original Lutheran church records for the Palmdale Cemetery, along with other unofficial records. Because the site is just 2.5 acres, someone can easily walk the grounds and view the marked graves. In the future, the City of Palmdale will develop a map of the cemetery, based upon the best documentation available, including any documentation provided by family members and the public.

The easiest way to determine where people are buried is to obtain an unofficial copy of the death certificate from the county in which they lived or died, which in this case is most likely the County of Los Angeles.

Karla Archuleta (The Joshua Journal) has done extensive research on the old Palmenthal settlement and the Historic Palmdale Cemetery, and can be reached at thegenealogists@sbcglobal.net. Dayle DeBry, a local genealogist/historian, has also done similar research, and can be reached at ddebry@roadrunner.com.

How do I help improve the records of the cemetery?
Please send an e-mail to gphair@cityofpalmdale.org or call us at 661/267-5300 and give us as much information as you know about the deceased. Written documentation is preferred, and official documentation is best.
