Palmdale Race Special Events

We've planned a variety of events to get our community involved in and excited about the Palmdale Stage Start of the Amgen Tour of California. These activities include a bicycle wheel decorating contest, bike rodeos for kids, and a competition to win the honor of singing the National Anthem at the Stage Start ceremonies – with an audience of over one million worldwide!

Check back often as we update the particulars for each event. In the meantime, you can create your own special event surrounding the race, like organizing a family bicycle ride or creating and organizing a special cycling school assembly.

Event:	SPOKES OF ART Contest
Date:	March 22-April 30
Address:	Parks & Recreation office, 38260 10th Street East
Details:	This is an art event where participants will decorate bicycle rims to compete in four categories: 1) Best Theme relating to organization or business; 2) Breakaway from Cancer; 3) Most Artistic; and 4) Best Depiction of Palmdale. There is no fee to enter, and all ages are invited to participate. Spokes of Art entry form

Event:	KID'S BICYCLE SAFETY RODEO
Date:	Saturday, April 28 at 10 am
Address:	Palmdale Oasis Park, 3850 East Ave. S
Details:	This bicycle rodeo will feature a bicycle safety clinic with bike safety inspections and a safety clinic where children can learn about the rules of the road. This will be followed by a ride on an interactive miniature "chalk street" course where young cyclists put their knowledge about safety to the test. Every participant will receive a medal, and will have a chance to win a bike safety helmet while supplies last. Don't forget to bring your bicycle and safety helmet! Bike Safety Rodeo flyer

Date:	Wednesday, April 18 & 25; May 2 & 9 at 6 pm
Address:	Antelope Valley Mall, 1233 Rancho Vista Blvd., at the Gottschalks Courtyard
Details:	Are you an awesome singer? Then come compete at this contest for the honor of singing the National Anthem at the opening ceremonies of the Palmdale Stage Start on Friday, May 18! Event:	TOUR DE PALMDALE
Date:	Saturday, May 5 at 9 am
Address:	Marie Kerr Park, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd.
Details:	Fun ride for adults 16 years of age and older beginning at 10 am. The Tour de Palmdale will take riders on a course over 30 miles in length visiting Palmdale's beautiful park sites.
