The Department of Public Safety and Community Relations provides services that help keep Palmdale's residents and businesses safe. The office oversees the Neighborhood and Business Watch programs, Partners Against Crime program, Public Security Officers, community service officers, crime prevention and community-based policing efforts, graffiti abatement and restitution, crime prevention through environmental design plan reviews and parking enforcement programs. Law enforcement services are provided by contract with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
. Fire and emergency response are provided by the Los Angeles County Fire Department .
