About the Graffiti Abatement Program
For 17 years, the City of Palmdale's Graffiti Abatement Program has provided for graffiti removal within the City limits on most public, private and commercial property at no charge to the individual property owners. This includes all 104 square miles of land and over 430 miles of roadways in the City. The graffiti program also assists the Sheriff's Department with identification, tracking and prosecuting graffiti vandals.
Graffiti technicians make every effort to remove graffiti within 24 hours from receipt of the report, barring inclement weather. The City of Palmdale is committed to maintaining a graffiti-free community and has developed a variety of ways to fight graffiti including:
- An anti-graffiti ordinance
- A reward system for information about taggers
- The Adopt-a-Wall Program
- The Graffiti Hotline of 94-PRIDE so citizens can report graffiti
- The Graffiti Abatement Program

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I report graffiti?
Call 94-PRIDE (947-7433) or use the
Online Graffiti Report Form.
What if I see taggers in action?
Do not confront taggers. Call the Sheriff's Department at 661/272-2400. A vehicle license number or an address where they are congregating may help. Then call the graffiti hotline.
Are there areas that the Graffiti Program does not cover?
The graffiti program abates graffiti within the incorporated City limits of Palmdale. This does not include areas that are the responsibility of other agencies and/or developments under public contract for maintenance, inclusive of graffiti.
Does the graffiti program match paint colors?
The graffiti program maintains a color list of over 250 colors that is constantly changing as buildings are built, removed or repainted. Graffiti technicians take great pride in matching the location's original color.
Why does it take so long for some graffiti to be removed? Isn't there a 24-hour removal policy?
Every effort is made to remove graffiti within 24 hours from receiving the report. In some cases, the graffiti load may be very heavy and some locations may be finished the following day. Sometimes, the location may not be specific enough in the message. If the graffiti you reported is not removed within two days, please call again.
Taggers have etched or scratched my window glass. Can you help me?
Currently, the City is unable to do anything about damage to glass. There are companies that can polish out etching and scratches. Look for "Glass Polishing" in the phone book or on the Internet. These companies are not affiliated with the City and we cannot make recommendations.

Adopt-A-Wall Program
If you are interested in helping paint out graffiti, join the Adopt-A-Wall program. The program assists local residents who volunteer to remove graffiti in their neighborhood by providing them with free-color matched paint and materials. The City will provide proper color paint to volunteers. Participation in the Adopt-A-Wall program does not obligate the participant to respond every time their adopted area has graffiti, nor does it relive the City of its responsibility to remove graffiti in adopted areas. For more information about the Adopt-A-Wall program, please call 661/267-5170.
