Grant Application Preparation

As the City continues to grow, the need for additional public infrastructure necessitates an aggressive program to seek outside grant funding. Most grant programs require that the City demonstrate its commitment to a project by funding a portion of project costs with City funds (or matching funds). Therefore, current City revenue streams are leveraged as matching funds in order to maximize the use of grant funding to accomplish the many needs of the City. City matching contributions typically range from funding as little as 10% to as much as 50% or more of the total cost of the project.

In recent years, the City has aggressively sought outside funding from sources including various Federal, State and County agencies to complete much needed public infrastructure projects including parks, trails, bikeways, street improvements, drainage system improvements, transportation improvements, transit amenities, traffic signal installations and traffic signal synchronization. Most grant programs have many requirements associated with the program that may increase the cost of any particular project funded by the program. Since funds are typically allocated for specific projects, approved funds can only be utilized to help cover the costs associated with the specific project.
