City of Palmdale Public Works
Sidewalk Improvements

As part of the City's ongoing effort to enhance pedestrian safety and to comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the City of Palmdale Sidewalk Improvement Program was established in 1997 to repair damaged sidewalk and install small pieces of missing sidewalk for the benefit of pedestrians. The sidewalk program identified and prioritized the City's sidewalk needs, especially in the vicinity of businesses and schools.

With limited resources, the City must prioritize individual projects and focus on the most heavily traveled routes to schools and businesses. In recent years, the City has aggressively sought outside funding from sources including various federal, state and county agencies to complete the needed sidewalk improvements.
The following areas are currently being constructed for the installation of sidewalk and handicap ramps with truncated domes:
- 11th Street East from Ave. R to R-4
