City of Palmdale Public Works
Transit Amenities Program
Transit service within the City of Palmdale is provided by the Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA). AVTA is a joint powers authority representing a partnership between the City of Palmdale, City of Lancaster, and the County of Los Angeles to provide transportation services – including local transit, dial-a-ride, and commuter service for residents of the Antelope Valley. As a partnership, the City works with AVTA to identify bus stop locations along local transit routes and has installed several bus benches, shelters, and trash receptacles within the City limits. These facilities are currently cleaned and maintained by AVTA under a cooperative agreement. Transit amenities are manufactured of metal construction with an anti-graffiti finish, to ensure a safe, durable facility. Concrete or wood benches, often accompanied by advertising messages and slogans are not permitted on City Streets to ensure facilities are consistent, safe, and placed correctly. The City and AVTA continue to partner together to install additional transit amenities as funds allow on all local transit routes.
