In the Summer of 2018, the City of Palmdale joined the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) as one of 200 locations nationwide to open the world’s best free outdoor gym — the Fitness Court®.
Founded in 1979, National Fitness Campaign partners with local communities and nationwide sponsors to promote healthy infrastructure. The Fitness Court ecosystem combines digital tools, evolving challenges and best-in-class equipment to create the world’s best outdoor gym experiences. The Fitness Court is an outdoor bodyweight circuit training system that provides a full-body workout to people of all ability levels. With 7 functional fitness zones, the Fitness Court can be used in thousands of ways. The National Fitness Campaign is one of the fastest-growing outdoor health and wellness networks in the country, now operating in over 75 cities and colleges across the Nation. By the end of 2022, the program will be thriving in over 1,000 communities across 40 states and is committed to making world class fitness free for everyone.
Fitness Court Ambassador Program
Become a Fitness Court Ambassador! Parks and Recreation is recruiting fitness court ambassadors to help instruct community members how to properly use the equipment in the Fitness Court located at Pelona Vista Park in Palmdale. There is a required 30-minute webinar as part of the training.
The Fitness Court is made possible through funds from presenting sponsor Antelope Valley Hospital, High Desert Medical Group, The Kaiser Foundation, and an NFC fitness grant from official music sponsor, Fit Radio.
