Palmdale’s Adopt-a-Plane program allows interested groups to "adopt" one of the aircraft displayed at Joe Davies Heritage Airpark. Groups who adopt a plane commit to cleaning the aircraft display on an as-needed basis, typically once per month. Groups consist of six to 10 people for most planes. Cleaning is done from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on select Saturdays. All cleaning tools and materials are supplied by the City.
Adoptions are available on a first-come, first served basis. As part of the program, all adopting groups receive:
Group name on the City's website
Group name on a sign next to the adopted aircraft
Invitation to special events at the airpark
Press release announcing the first scheduled cleaning
Recognition at annual awards ceremony
Available for Adoption
These planes are available for adoption:
Boeing SCA 747 (large group)
Space Shuttle Test Sled (small group)
