[ARCHIVED] Alpha Featured as Mid-Week Movie at the Palmdale City Library

The Palmdale City Library, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., continues its Mid-Week Movies program with a showing of the movie Alpha (2018), rated PG-13, on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 5:30 p.m. Admission and popcorn are free.

Visually stunning, Alpha aims to tell the story of how dogs became domesticated. Set 20,000 years ago, the movie follows a young man named Keda as he tries to learn how to survive alone in the wilderness after he is involved in an accident during a hunt and presumed dead by his tribe. In the process of trying to find his way home, Keda is attacked by wolves and ends up forming an unlikely alliance with one after he injures it and it is abandoned by the rest of its pack. With winter approaching and danger around every turn, Keda and the wolf must learn to work together if they have any hope of surviving and finding their way home.

The Library hosts a free showing of featured films every Wednesday evening. Upcoming movies scheduled to be shown include Frozen rated PG, on Nov. 20; and Hairspray rated PG, on Nov. 27, The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) rated PG on Dec. 4, and Home Alone (1990) rated PG on Dec. 11.

This program is made possible through the generous support of the Friends of the Palmdale City Library.

The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
