Classics Book Club to Discuss The Wapshot Chronicle

The Palmdale City Library’s Classics Book Club, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., will discuss the novel The Wapshot Chronicle by John Cheever, Monday, February 24, at 7 pm.

            Originally published in 1957, The Wapshot Chronicle tells the story of the Wapshots, an eccentric family that lives in a small fishing village in Massachusetts. The debut novel by Cheever, who had previously written only short stories, The Wapshot Chronicle won a National Book Award in 1958.

The Classics Book Club meets on the fourth Monday of every month from 7 to 8 pm. New members are welcome to attend.

The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
