Palmdale Playhouse to Feature Classic Night of the Living Dead

The Palmdale Playhouse, located at 38334 10th St. East, will host a special screening of the George A. Romero classic horror film, Night of the Living Dead, on Friday, Nov. 1 at 8 pm.

Tickets are available at www.PalmdalePlayhouse.com and are $5 for all ages.

At the time of its release, Night of the Living dead achieved an unprecedented level of realistic gore and grotesquerie for creature-feature fans. It is now regarded as a cult classic by film scholars and critics despite being heavily criticized upon its release for its explicit gore. Released in 1968 in black and white, the film’s budget was only $114,000 but grossed $12 million in the US and $18 million internationally.

The story revolves around seven people who are holed up in a farmhouse in rural western Pennsylvania which is besieged by a large and growing group of “living dead” creatures.

“Come out for a night of trilling fun when the dead come to life and eat the living!” said Palmdale Recreation Supervisor Annie Pagliaro.

A zombie costume contest will be held immediately after the movie with prizes awarded for first, second, and third place winner.
